Sabbats and Rituals

Sabbats are an important part of witchcraft. A page will be added a week prior to every Sabbat. These pages will outline what the sabbat is about and how it impacts on a witches life, it will also look at the folklore associated with the sabbat and the solitary ritual for the witch to perform.

The Festival of Lammas
Lammas is the first of the three Harvest Festivals and symbolizes the fading power of the Sun God, and calls attention to his willingness to sacrifice himself to the Moon Goddess.

• To keep in mind about Sabbats: for some witches, it’s easier to remember the festival times if you pay attention to the seasons themselves rather than rely on dates, they feel it puts you more in tune with the Earth’s energies.

If you would like to learn how to create your own Ritual for a particular Sabbat then please read what witch Kia has to say about Rituals.

Tis the witching hour of night,
Or bed is the moon and bright,
And the stars they glisten, glisten,
Seeming with bright eyes to listen
For what listen they?

John Keats (1795 - 1821)
